17-Jan Genesis 33-34, Mark 5-6, Psalms 81-85, Proverbs 17

Gen 33:4-5 (NIV) 4 But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. 5 Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. "Who are these with you?" he asked. Jacob answered, "They are the children God has graciously given your servant."

Yesterday we saw that Jacob wrestled with God until he found his core purpose and Heaven spoke about him.  God changed his name from old deceitful Jacob to Israel - prince of God, one in authority, one who has overcome.  That core change in Jacob's life caused his focus and thinking to change.  He REAL-IZED what God thought of him, and who God said he was.  Therefore, the old deceitfulness, the old surplanter that Jacob walked in all of his life, was put to death.  Jacob, being the second son, always fighting to be number one, always trying to get the blessing on his own, REAL-IZED that God had already given it to him, and that God was happy with him as a prince of God.

When we find out who we really are by identifying our core purpose statement, everything begins to change from the inside out.  Our thoughts, intentions, goals, the way we handle ourselves - everything changes!  We find here that Jacob is about to meet his dreaded brother Essau, whom he had scammed on multiple occasions in his old life.  He is now, in a way, born again and friends with God, knowing what God thinks of him.  When he meets Essau, they embrace, Essau is glad to see him, and he has absolute favor with Essau all the way through the meeting.  God has helped Jacob and blessed even his old past failed relationship with his brother.  Essau sees Jacob differently because Jacob sees Jacob differently.  There's just something different about him now.  He doesn't seem like a surplanter, but he walks like a prince, an overcomer, and he has a sort of authority in his life.  HE IS ISRAEL!

Don't ever forget who you are.

James 1:22-25 (NIV) 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.

Look daily into the mirror, God's living word.  Read it and identify with it.  Read your 25 word core vision statement aloud and push forward with your territorial goals.  They are working your future from the inside outward, and your finality is going to be glorious!   sunny king  king
