23-Jun 1 Chron. 21-22, John 9-10, Psalms 116-120, Proverbs 23

1 Chron 21:1-5 (NIV) 1 Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel. 2 So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops, "Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan. Then report back to me so that I may know how many there are." 3 But Joab replied, "May the Lord multiply his troops a hundred times over. My lord the king, are they not all my lord's subjects? Why does my lord want to do this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?" 4 The king's word, however, overruled Joab; so Joab left and went throughout Israel and then came back to Jerusalem. 5 Joab reported the number of the fighting men to David: In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand men who could handle a sword, including four hundred and seventy thousand in Judah.

One of the great connections that King David had with God was his faith in God alone.  He knew that no matter what he had himself, that God would make up the difference and provide the SUPERNATURAL strength, MIRACULOUS power, and the HEAVENLY substance needed to carry out the next attack, defense, or movement.  Whether it was the full grown lion, the bear, the giant Philistine, multiplied enemy nations marching against his armies, GOD was the exponential partner that would make David invincible and successful.  Somehow, King David was able to trust God completely for many years.  BUT . . .

Satan knew that if he could get David to count his men and start thinking mathematically, that he would cause fear, panic, and a lack of faith to come into Israel - starting with the King.  Satan also knew that if the King/leader of the nation were to sin against God, that the entire nation would reap the harvest of that sin.

Indeed, David counted the fighting men and God counted this action against him and all of Israel.  David's move to start thinking in the natural would cause great anger with the Lord, and tens of thousands of men would die instantly because of this decision.  The Angel of the Lord would also draw his sword and possibly destroy all of Jerusalem.  David would end up spending huge amounts of money to buy land, build altars of sacrifice, and repent before God for what he had done.

When I read these chapters I can only consider how much we use the mathematical and counting methods to justify our position with God these days.  If we want to do something for God, we count our people and our financial strength and then we decide whether or not we can do it based on our own strength.  How many times have we NOT done something for God because we didn't feel that we were strong enough?  And do we EVER include God in the decision, saying, "OUR GOD IS ABLE! WITH HIM WE CAN DO ALL THINGS!" ???

Last week I listened to a young lady who was praising God because they fixed food for a feeding program in Costa Rica.  When they went to feed the hungry children, the food level didn't go down. They fed the children's parents too, and the food level stayed the same.  They allowed the children to come back two and three times, and the food level didn't diminish, yet they cooked the same amount this time as always.  There was a full pot of food AFTER everyone was filled and happy.  They called another orphanage and ran the food over to them, completely feeding that entire orphanage with the food.  What a miracle!  There's no way to explain how this happens, but it happens all the time when God steps down and gets involved.  This is no different than Jesus feeding 3,000 or 5,000 people on a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish.

Moses needed a miracle when Egypt was coming down to wipe out the newly released slaves at the Red Sea.  He cried out to God because he didn't have the ability to save Israel himself.  God said, "WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND?"  Then Moses lifted his staff and GOD opened the Red Sea, dried it's bottom, and gave the Israelites a way to escape Egypt.  It was a miracle, but that's what God does when He steps down and gets involved.

I wonder what would happen with our lives, families, churches, nations, finances, and businesses if we were to invite the Lord to step down and get involved with us.  Yet everything we've been taught to do is to count what we have and make our decisions from there.  Is it possible that Satan has incited us to count our people, our money, our own gifts, talents, and education?  Is it possible that we've shut God out and taken up the attitude that "We CANNOT DO IT BECAUSE WE ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH!" ???  This was the attitude of the Israelites when God was trying to give them the land of milk and honey. They saw the giants and counted their own weaknesses rather than God's strength.  Because of that report, they would not enter the land of promise.  Yet the two spies (Joshua and Caleb) were men of a different spirit, and they said, "OUR GOD IS ABLE! SURELY WE WILL TAKE THIS LAND, KILL THESE GIANTS, AND INHERIT WHAT GOD HAS PROMISED US!".  Those two men would indeed inherit the land. But the rest of the nation and the spies with an evil report would not ever get to taste of anything that was grown in the land of promise.

I want to challenge you to CONSIDER GOD in your plans.  Did God tell you to do something that's so big that you could never accomplish it on your own?   Then this is indeed God's plan, and He MUST come down and get involved to provide the miracle needed to complete the task.  Have you set goals that are small enough that you can accomplish them on your own in the allotted time?  Then you may be missing the greatest Heavenly opportunity of your life.

God wants to COME DOWN and visit you in your third dimensional world called your earth walk!  Don't miss your opportunity by counting your own strength and defiling your faith. FAITH is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.  Faith knows that God will come down and bring the miracles needed to position us for completion of the stated purpose.  FAITH moves God into the position of divine partner in your earthly activities.

COMPASS GUIDE helps you to set short, medium, and long term goals that God authorizes and approves.  You are continually instructed by God and His Word to think big and plan large.  He is our co-partner, our co-operative, and our co-missioner.  CO means walking together and both bringing all you have to the table.  When we walk with God, He brings everything He has to the table.  It's more than we could imagine, ask or think!  PLAN BIG!  kingkingking
