6-Mar Numbers 17-18 Romans 11-12 Psalms 21-25 Proverbs 6

Korah leads an unsuccessful rebellion against Moses, and the people all grumble against God's hand picked leadership. Everyone wants to lead and everyone has his own idea on where the nation should go, not that God has gotten them out of Egypt.

Num 17:1-9 (NIV) 1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff. 3 On the staff of Levi write Aaron's name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe. 4 Place them in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you. 5 The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites." 6 So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron's staff was among them. 7 Moses placed the staffs before the Lord in the Tent of the Testimony. 8 The next day Moses entered the Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron's staff, which represented the house of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds. 9 Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the Lord's presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each man took his own staff.

Each man is holding his own staff with his sharpie pen name written on them. Only one staff has blossomed, budded, and produced fruit, and the others remain dead walking sticks of men. This dead walking stick of Aaron's produced FRUIT without being stuck in the ground, but by the power of God almighty and His will to choose Aaron for leadership and service.

I am presently living in Costa Rica and the 12 month growing season here is so fertile and wonderful. It is said that you can stick a broomstick in the ground and it will grow. While that's not completely true, I have seen a simple branch of a tree stuck in the ground and it grows into a tree. WOW. But I have NEVER seen a dead walking stick brought into a church and reproduce fruit without being stuck in the ground!

Let's explore this:

Eleven tribes wanted to do what they were not called to do. One tribe (Aaron and the Levites) were doing what God had called them to do. God only anointed and gave fruit to the tribe that was in divine position. The other eleven were considered rebellious, and they quite frankly ticked God off. He had thoughts about destroying them for their rebellion. This is not where you and I want to be in our relationship with the Lord!

THE MIRACLE: There is a place in Christ that you can position yourself, where God will shine such favor on you, that even if you don't put your stick in the ground, it will still reproduce and bring a harvest. Simply because you are chosen by God, and because you have laid your walking stick (your daily walk) before His altar, He will make you multiply and reproduce almost effortlessly.

The walking stick represents the daily walk of a person's life. It also represents a tree that was cut off from it's own life and purpose, so that it could help a man with his purpose. That stick is dead, cut off from it's old roots, and will not bear fruit again on it's own - EVER. It's not naturally possible (unless you live in Costa Rica - LOL).

I believe that the walking stick, placed in the hands of a man who's walking with God, represents the life of Christ. Jesus was the branch. He was cut off from his own life, yet he supernaturally rose again from the grave. It was not possible, but he did it by the power of God, just like Aaron's walking stick blossomed, budded, and produced fruit in just one day in the tabernacle.

I believe that we need to re-examine our walking stick. When you get up in the morning, what stick do you grab? Do you take the one that you've grown up with? To you take the one that you molded and fashioned during college? Do you grab the designer stick that's loaded with bling and looks good with your your peer group. Or do you grab the one that God has offered?

If we are going to walk on the mountaintops with God, and if we're going to take the narrow path less traveled, we are going to need God's choice for a walking stick. This stick will do miraculous things for you. It will smite the Egyptians, part the Red Sea, call fire down from Heaven, bring water from the rock, and it will produce fruit in an instant when needed. It will signify and substantiate the authority of God on your life before all rebellious people. It's the MIRACLE STICK. It's the life of Christ that we live on purpose, following Him and going where He goes, saying what He says, and thinking like He thinks.

COMPASS GUIDE leads you to the walking stick of God's choice. Once you know your core purpose, then you can filter out all non profitable things from your life and begin that process of elimination, goal setting, and focused multiplication. COMPASS GUIDE helps you to identify your strengths, weaknesses, and the direction that God is taking you. COMPASS GUIDE will put the right stick in your hand. At the end of your life, you will see the fruit from your walk with Christ, while others retire with dead, fruitless walking sticks in their hands. You are not one of them, but you are a member of the 10% club. You are one who reads the Word of God on purpose every day. You walk with Christ, setting goals and pointing in the direction that He wants you to go. You are a Spirit filled follower of Christ, rather than a non following Christian in name only.

Examine your stick today and see if is supernaturally multiplying. If not, look for the one that's producing fruit and grab it!
