3-Jun 2 Kings 5-6, Mark 9-10, Psalms 16-20, Proverbs 3

2 Kings 5:9-12 NIV [9] So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house. [10] Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.” [11] But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. [12] Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?” So he turned and went off in a rage.

This chapter of the Bible is filled with twists, turns, and lessons to be learned. Wow! We find that the powerful general Naaman is sick with leprosy.  He is commander of a foreign army that's actually had conflict with Israel.  His wife's servant girl was stolen from Israel by bands of raiders.  So there's some contention between This Araamite and Israel already, and Naaman has been profitting from the stolen servant girl.

Naaman has leprosy and there is no cure for his problem. (Remember this when thinking of all the world problems today which have no cure.)  The Israelite servant girl says that Israel has the cure and Naaman is sent by his king to Israel.  After meeting with the king of Israel who wants nothing to do with this man, Elisha the prophet calls him over so that he will know that there is a prophet in Israel and a God in Heaven.  (This would be equivalent to the commander of the Iranian or North Korean army coming to the USA to get healed of an incurrable disease.)

Elisha does not meet personally with Naaman but sends a servant to him to give him instructions.  These are not the instructions that all powerful, commander Naaman is used to.  Elishah sends word for him to go down to the dirty river Jordan and dip himself in it seven times.  This story just keeps getting worse taking turns with ever sentence!

All powerful, commander Naaman of the enemy army is told to humble himself and do something he would NEVER do.  Why not just bathe in fresh spring water? Or a nice mountain spring? Why not sit in a jacouzzi and sip fine wine while receiving his treatments?  This is crazy!  Naaman stormed off angry and hostile!  But he eventually went down to that dirty, stinky river.  What choice did he have? These were the only instructions he had.  After seven times in and out of that filthy river, his skin was as new as a baby's skin, and he was fully restored.

I believe that there are multiple principles for us to learn from today which will help us in our quest to fulfill God's will and purpose in the earth.  These principles are not all inclusive, but just the ones that inspired me today.

1.  God will give favor and grace to our enemies in order to change them and show them who the real King is.  We must be willing to move with His plan when he offers  healing to an enemy commander of hell.
2.  The king of Israel had no power or desire to help Naaman, and sent him away with a grumbling attitude.  But the prophet seized the opportunity and called for Naaman to come to him so that Naaman would know Jehovah God's power and the power of the prophet.  While we are called to be kings and priest/prophets in the New Testament, it will be the ministry/prophet gift that has compassion on Hell's enemies when they come to you.  The king in  you will not have compassion or mercy. Understand this and prepare yourself for this because you are both a king and a priest in Christ. Know which gift is functioning for each situation.  A king will rule a domain but a priest/prophet will reveal the glory of God to the enemy.
3.  If God ever gives you instructions that you don't like, as He did Naaman, don't grumble and get angry.  Humble yourself and do what God is saying.  There is a reason and a purpose.  God had to get Naaman outside of his "high life" in order to make him see and receive the gift of healing.  It didn't come through fine wine, pure water, or anything natural, but from the Lord.  If you are called down to a dirty, muddy environment, it's for the glory of God.  Humble yourself and do what He said.  You will see the promise fulfilled.
4.  When Naaman was healed he was changed.  He changed kingdoms, he changed gods, and gave his heart to Jehovah immediately.  He honored, worshipped, offered to give great gifts, and became a different man.  Elijah did NOT take advantage of this heart change, and would not take the gifts that Naaman offered.  Naaman pressured him heavily but he would not receive them.  The gift was a one way gift, from God to Naaman. Naaman could do nothing in return but receive the gift of kindness from Jehovah God.  Make sure when the glory of God shows up in your life, business, and ministry, that you don't use it as an opportunity to extract gifts and fees from those who are receiving the gift of God.  Gehezi attempted to extract funds from Naaman and he became leprose with a curse.  The curse of Naaman came upon him!
5.  Naaman the enemy had no answer in his kingdom for his demise.  This disease would end up killing him.  But Jehovah God has the answer, and always does.  Followers of Christ in this day must be on the search for answers to the world's demise.  Right now, a flood of incurable diseases are swamping the world.  To name a few, we have global warming and cooling, an upcoming water and food shortage, pandemic diseases showing up with no cure, volcanoes erupting and changes in the earth's crust causing earthquakes, sink holes, and a polar shift in the earth.  We have powerful satanic, adamic forces making power grabs for nations, people groups, natural resources, and more.  Our oceans are filled with contaminants and our food supplies are being corrupted.  There are problems which no government can fix.  Naaman is leprous, while kicking God out of every hall of education, the judicial, business, and even churches are kicking him out.  The world is in a terrible mess, and God is going to raise up his prophet/priests to bring answers to deadly world troubles.  You are one of his prophet/priests that He is raising up because the Son of God, the ultimate priest/prophet lives inside of you!
