19-Apr Judges 17-18 Hebrews 9-10 Psalms 91-95 Proverbs 19

Judges 17:5-6 (NIV) 5 Now this man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and some idols and installed one of his sons as his priest. 6 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.

In just a few generations from the great exodus from Egypt and the Promised Land take over by Joshua, we have a generation of Israelites who had no king or leaders, and each man did as he saw fit.  How quickly one generation to another can lose their loyalties and relationship with God.  This is serious business, and we should all take note.  One generation can lose everything that the previous generations secured for them.  This is why God commands us to write His commands upon our children's lives, imprinting them into their hearts, minds, and everything that you do as a family.  Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.  A successful upbringing of a child means that the child does not depart from God.  Don't buy the lie that allows the child to depart from God from teen years to elderly, and then when he is old he doesn't depart.  Any departure from God is a failed attempt to train the child in the way of the Lord, period. (my opinion in fear and trembling).

Micah was doing his best to honor God in the day where there were no spiritual leaders, no godly king in charge, and everyone just roamed about as he saw fit.  Micah built a shrine in his home, had a silver idol made, and hired a non employed Levite priest to be the priest in his shrine.  He was so excited because he know that God would bless him because he found the Levite to be his priest.  But you and I know that he was totally upside down.  God isn't in to silver idols, or priests hanging out in self built temples of idol worship.  But it was the best that Micah had in the day.  This is because Micah had not been properly trained, but he had been taught these ways by foreigners, worshippers of foreign gods and idols, and no doubt, the people of his day were roaming around and doing whatever they wanted with no vision, no direction, and no leadership.

This is exactly where we are at today in America and around the world!  There is no true spiritual leadership displayed in the land, and the leadership vacuum has caused the world to slip into a lack of vision, no king to lead them, and every man is simply doing as he pleases.  This will be a deadly and aggressively downward spiral into death and destruction for many.  Thank God for Psalm 91 protection and Holy Spirit intelligence (HSI, our spiritual version of the CIA).

Without a vision, the people perish.  Without commands to follow and kingdom precepts to obey and believe in, the people are doomed to separation from god.  Micah was so separated from God and His commands that he didn't have a clue that he was not supposed to be building silver idols, building little temples, or hiring Levites to serve in their man made facads.  He thought that God would be pleased with him because he found a religious man who had the name "Levite" attached to him.  But this is not what God was looking for, and it just represented that israel was so far away from God.  So far away, and so blind, that they didn't even know how far away they were from pleasing Him.

If you know ANYONE who is doing as he sees fit, it's time to rescue that person from the darkness and destruction that is coming because of his sin and separation from God!
