18-Mar Deut. 7-8 2 Cor. 3-4 Psalms 81-85 Proverbs 18

Deut 7:1-6 (NIV) 1 When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations--the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you-- 2 and when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. 3 Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, 4 for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods, and the Lord's anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you. 5 This is what you are to do to them: Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, cut down their Asherah poles and burn their idols in the fire. 6 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

Are you ready to receive an inheritance from God?  You are not simply going to get a piece of land from Him so you can live a merry little Christian dream of a home, 2 kids, and a white picket fence.  We are being called to change a territory from idolatry to serving God.  The squatters who sit upon the land must be removed so that you can establish God's kingdom upon that land.  The land is crying out for justice.  God is preparing to give the land to the faithful who will establish God's kingdom upon it in righteousness.  Are you ready for the task? It won't be easy. There will be giants. And you will risk your life to secure it for God's kingdom.

I am not talking about dealing with flesh and blood today, as God had Israel do.  Our battle is against spiritual wickedness in high places, principalities and powers that rule the darkness of this world system.  These entities enslave and paralyze God's people, and cause many to wanter off into horrible destruction.  But God wants to give you a possession of your own, a land of promise.  Your job is not to just inherit it, but to cleanse it, possess it, and multiply it for the kingdom of God, driving out all foreign influence and behavior so that you may live long in the land.

COMPASS GUIDE will help you identify the land of promise.  When you arrive there, you must establish the kingdom of God in that place if you want to live long and inherit that land.  Otherwise, you would only be using the powers of positive thinking to get what you want.  But serving in the kingdom of God is not about getting what we want.  It's fulfilling God's dream for us, and in that we find fulfillment, purpose, and inheritance.
