09/23 Compass Guide Comments By Dr. Daniel Dave
23-Sep Isaiah 51-52, Rev. 13-14, Psalms 126-130, Proverbs 23
Proverbs 23:6-8 (NIV) Do not eat the food of a stingy man, do not crave his delicacies; for he is the kind of man who is always thinking about the cost. "Eat and drink," he says to you, but his heart is not with you. You will vomit up the little you have eaten and will have wasted your compliments.
stin·gy ˈstinjē, adjective, unwilling to give or spend; ungenerous. "his employer is stingy and idle"
synonyms: mean, miserly, close-fisted, parsimonious, penny-pinching, cheeseparing, Scrooge-like;
The spirit of stinginess is that of anti-Christ. It is the exact opposite of The Lord Jesus Christ and His Father. God is a giver, and is filled with generosity. His heart is for you and with you. He evidently didn't consider the cost when it came to redeeming you and I from sin, death and eternal separation from His presence. He sent His Son, who considered the price to pay - and jumped into action to pay it.
There is nothing worse than stinginess in the body of Christ and the New Testament Church. As the Proverb says, the stingy man is offering you dinner, but there's something behind it. He wants something in return. It's PAY TO PLAY. His heart is not with you, but is set somewhere else. He is using you to get something that he wants. His gift to you will become sour in your stomach once you realize that his LITTLE gift of food was only meant to get something from you, more valuable than the supposed gift he offered in food. What a terrible thing to be a stingy, penny pinching, close-fisted, unwilling person. There is no reflection of God or His kingdom in this type of person. Run for your lives!
In the spirit of the Compass Guide program, you are led to FILTER AND FOCUS. Among the first friends and family to filter out of your focused life are stingy people. Until they change and prove themselves open givers (a gift that only God can give), you should consider how close you allow these people in to your life, your time, your focus and your future. These are the types of TIME BANDITS and DREAM THIEVES that will corrupt the best of divine purposes in a person's life. king king king
