07/19 Compass Guide Comments By Dr. Daniel Daves
19-Jul Neh. 3-4, Romans 11-12, Psalms 96-100, Proverbs 19
Neh 4:1-6 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, 2 and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, "What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble--burned as they are?" 3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, "What they are building--if even a fox climbed up on it, he would break down their wall of stones!" 4 Hear us, O our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. 5 Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of the builders. 6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.
When you begin to build anything for God, you are going to be fought, ridiculed, and put down by the half breed Sanballats and Tobiah's of your friendship base. There are always people around us who don't understand us, they can't figure out our faith, or our reason for living differently than the rest of the world. And they certainly don't want you to be talking about grandiose ideas and huge things that you're going to do for this unseen God that you serve. They hate that lifestyle because the spirit inside of them is corrupted. Their father is the devil.
As we are building God's dream, we must be very aware, just as Nehemiah was. We must know our enemies, know whom we can share the building plans with, and know whom to cut off from our relationship base. Yes, there are those in our relationship base that will hinder our growth, our building plans, and some of them will potentially be from your own family. While family is great, fleshly family can be very demonic and faith destroying. Make sure that the family that you draw near to is spiritual. I like to say, "Meet me on the other side of the cross and we will build together. Otherwise, I'll see you at Thanksgiving for dinner." The bible commands us to know no man after the flesh, but to know them by the spirit. Therefore, family can be a blessing or a curse, depending on which side of the cross they stand on, and live by.
You are the city of God, and you are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If you are going to build God's dream, you MUST FILTER out everything that will hold you back, everyone who will ridicule and hinder you, and every situation that will potentially harm the building program. This means that you will need to distance yourself away from certain people. Those who hurt you with their words need a certain place in your life - far from the building program. Those who resist your gifts, callings, talents, and who God has called you to be - they need to be filtered. Those who say they're with you, but whom are really not (half breed Tobiah and Sanballat), must be distanced and filtered. Don't even think for a moment that you will be able to build with all of your heart, if part of your heart is given to worldlings, false relationships, fleshly lusts, and division of purpose. It's not easy to FILTER. But it's a requirement if you are ever to FOCUS your calling and gifts like a laser beam in the future. First filter, then focus.
Today is a good day to start the filtering process. Who among you is a DREAM THIEF, or a TIME BANDIT? Who hangs around you and holds you down, speaks fear or division into your life? Who DIS-COURAGES you rather than EN-COURAGES you? In other words, some people put courage into you and some take it out. You MUST identify and distance yourself from those who take it out.
Get the COMPASS GUIDE 300 page, one year workbook and start the filter/focus process so that you can become a highly refined, highly focused, laser beam in the hand of God!
