11-Sep Isaiah 27-28, 2 Peter 3, Psalms 66-70, Proverbs 11

Isaiah 28:14-19 (NIV) 14  Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem. 15  You boast, "We have entered into a covenant with death, with the grave we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place." 16  So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed. 17  I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place. 18  Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the grave will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it. 19  As often as it comes it will carry you away; morning after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep through." The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.

Mockers are everywhere. From the religious leaders who put rule after rule upon the people, to those who hate God and make a covenant with death that they think will nullify their reaping of destruction - simply because they decide to NOT believe in God.  It's impossible to escape God by making a covenant with death. Once a person makes that covenant, God takes this as a personal challenge and he begins to annul the covenant with death that people make.  He says in Isaiah that he sets up a stone in Zion that is trusted, tested, and true. This stone will bring justice and a foundation for all living in the earth.  This stone can be trusted. And this stone will make the wicked stumble. It will stand in their way. It will sweep away their lies, it will overflow and drown their hiding places, and it will destroy and dissolve everyone's covenant with death.  This stone will end their atheism and will bring every man to account.  If not during their lifetimes, this stone will call them into account when God calls them up for questioning.  A wicked man, an atheist, and a religious man cannot win against the Lord - PERIOD.

This stone is a rock of offense to some, and a point of refuge to others. You can trust it.  This rock is the Lord Jesus Christ, and also the body of Christ which is His bride in His Kingdom.

Daniel 2:34-35 (NIV) 34  While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them. 35  Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.

You and I are part of the corner stone. We are one with Christ and He is the ultimate corner stone. Your stand for righteousness and God's kingdom is the establishment of God's cornerstone in the earth. YOU will make men stumble.  You will also make men trust in the cornerstone. You will be the tool that God uses to annul the covenant with death that the world has made with their vein religions or with atheism.  And if they are so stubborn and hard hearted that they refuse to listen, your life will be a smell of death to them until God calls them up for questioning.  They cannot win against the rock and the kingdom of God.

2 Corinthians 2:15-16 (NIV) 15  For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16  To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?

Let's get busy annulling the covenant of death that men have made. Let's help them to put their trust in the cornerstone of Zion.  Take this as a challenge in prayer, in lifestyle, and in forward advancement of the kingdom of God in your workplace, your friendships, among family, in your community and in the nations of the world!
