9-Dec Amos 7-9, 1 Cor. 11-12, Psalms 61-65, Proverbs 9

Amos 7:12-13 (NIV) 12 Then Amaziah said to Amos, "Get out, you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there. 13 Don't prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the king's sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom."

Amos continued to prophecy to the nation that God was planning to judge the nation. Amazingly, Amos was able to hold God's judgments back because he pleaded with God over what God was showing him.  God was revealing his plans to his servant the prophet, as scripture says He would do (Amos 3:7).  And finally this nation came to the place that it wanted nothing to do with the "WORD OF THE LORD", and the king commanded Amos to leave town and go prophecy somewhere else, for this was the king's domain and he was tired of hearing the words of the prophet.  They were totally useless to the king.

Can you imagine a nation removing the Word of the Lord and God's prophets from the land?  Yet this happens over and over around the world as nations grow hard and harsh against the Lord their creator.  The Middle East is filled with nations who will kill you or imprison you for preaching the Word of the Lord.  Christians are being slaughtered at unprecedented numbers around the world today, just for being Christian.  The message being sent is GET OUT OF HERE!  Yet Jesus told us to go as sheep among wolves, and preach the gospel to all creation.  We are not called to leave, but to fill the earth with the yeast of God's Kingdom!

Amos prophecies to the king telling him that his wife would be a prostitute in the land, his children would die by the sword, and he would die in a pagan land after being carted off by powerful enemies.  This was a powerful judgment for the king and his land.

And then God spoke once again through Amos, saying:
Amos 8:11-14 (NIV) 11 "The days are coming," declares the Sovereign Lord, "when I will send a famine through the land-- not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. 12 Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it. 13 "In that day "the lovely young women and strong young men will faint because of thirst. 14 They who swear by the shame of Samaria, or say, 'As surely as your god lives, O Dan,' or, 'As surely as the god of Beersheba lives'-- they will fall, never to rise again."

A famine for the Word of the Lord is more severe than a nature famine.  This means that God is finished speaking, He has shut His mouth and has left the land.  Men start searching for the Word of the Lord and cannot find it.  Because they cannot find it, they actually fall, to never rise again.  Did you know that the Word of the Lord is just as important to a person, a family, and a nation as the actual daily food that we eat?  Without the Word of the Lord over the land, it will fall to never rise again.

When Jesus told us to pray in this manner: . . . . Give us this day our daily bread . . .   He wasn't just talking about natural food.  Our DAILY BREAD is also revelational light from Heaven from the Lord who loves us and who has committed to lead and direct us (unless of course, we kick Him out of our country, family, or our own life.)

There is a famine for the Word of the Lord today all around the globe.  You can see the famine and it's effects in people everywhere.  Even if you go to the Bible belt of America, people are dying of famine and thirst.  Why is this?  Many leaders and gate keepers over our nations have rejected God and are legislating Him out of our lives and society.  They are sealing their own doom, and the doom of the people under their authority.  When spiritual famine comes, the people are left to eak out an existence with no heavenly light and no direction at all.  They will fall in the desert called "spiritual darkness".

There DOES NOT need to be a famine in your land.  While you cannot control the land around you, and you cannot force a horse to drink the water that's in front of him, you can certainly make sure that you are eating and drinking what God has given.  The best way that I know to walk in revelational light and to hear from God on a daily basis is to COMMIT to reading His Word every day, first thing when you wake up.  Grab your cup of coffee or OJ, get comfortable in a quiet place, and begin reading His Word.  Talk with HIm, asking Him questions and listening for answers.  Journal what you are hearing and write down your thoughts as you communicate with your Heavenly creator.  Make this a holy, sovereign, divine moment in your personal life every day, and watch what happens around you and everything that you touch!  You will have streams in a desert place, and plenty of food in famine.  You will walk different, talk different, and be led differently than everyone who lives in famine.  And the outcome will be spectacularly different!

COMPASS GUIDE helps you to bring all of this together so that you are living in the garden called Eden, rather than the desert called "Spiritual Darkness and Despair".   Get your Compass Guide today at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] .

Adam turned the garden into a grave yard. But Jesus turned a grave yard into a garden.  When He rose from the dead, Mary saw him and said, "Oh, I thought you were the gardener!"    Think about it!

Amos 9:11-15 (NIV)11 "In that day I will restore David's fallen tent. I will repair its broken places, restore its ruins, and build it as it used to be, 12 so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear my name, " declares the Lord, who will do these things. 13 "The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills. 14 I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says the Lord your God.

What God destroys, He then rebuilds with a new people. This is God's methods of operation, and He faithfully cleanses the land of fools and rebels. He destroyed the whole world in a pre-Noahic flood between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. He destroyed the earth again and saved Noah with a family of eight to rebuild the world. He repeatedly used His people to destroy the Nephilum giant genetic malformations that had invaded the world. He would use enemy nations to destroy Israel's evil leaders and then He would send in people to rebuild the cities for righteousness. This is how God moves in the earth. And this Amos 9 scripture gives great hope after any destructive force that takes out wicked leaders and those who don't want to hear the Word of the Lord any longer. God calls in people who will rebuild and restore the land in righteousness. This is His M.O.
