05/16 Thoughts & Comments By Dr. Daniel Daves
16-May 2 Sam. 15-16, Matthew 1-2, Psalms 76-80, Proverbs 16
2 Samuel 15:1-6 (NIV) 1 In the course of time, Absalom provided himself with a chariot and horses and with fifty men to run ahead of him. 2 He would get up early and stand by the side of the road leading to the city gate. Whenever anyone came with a complaint to be placed before the king for a decision, Absalom would call out to him, "What town are you from?" He would answer, "Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel." 3 Then Absalom would say to him, "Look, your claims are valid and proper, but there is no representative of the king to hear you." 4 And Absalom would add, "If only I were appointed judge in the land! Then everyone who has a complaint or case could come to me and I would see that he gets justice." 5 Also, whenever anyone approached him to bow down before him, Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him and kiss him. 6 Absalom behaved in this way toward all the Israelites who came to the king asking for justice, and so he stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
This story wreaks of evil politics which conspired to seize the authority and throne of God's chosen king. King David's son Absalom began to conspire to take it all for himself. Notice the way that he STOLE the hearts of Israel's men? He used the themes of injustice, no representation, and false love of the people to gain their love and trust. He would effectively seize the kingdom for a moment, but his illicit seizure would end in his death and the exposure of many turncoat, treasonous co-conspirators. The kingdom would be cleansed, but not without alot of turmoil, upset and revolution!
This story repeats over and over in history. We are seeing the same Absalom spirit gaining ground throughout the world in the name of socialism, fairness, and for the common good of the people. Instead of kissing the hands of the people, we are handing them food, clothing, and phones. Instead of crying at the city gate about no representation, we are shouting it out at political campaigns and making promises of justice. Many are STEALING the hearts of the people.
Stealing a heart away from legitimate authority is still THEFT. A person's heart may have been stolen, but that heart still belongs to another. And who is that owner of the heart? It's the Lord Jesus Christ, for it's He who paid the ultimate price of death on the cross - paying for that heart and freedom for that person. Yet, the Absalom spirit is on the rise and we are seeing the King being driven out of the land, our courts, our schools, and every area of society.
These are the days where turncoat treasonous co-conspirators are being revealed from Heaven, and true followers of Christ are making their stand. During these days, God Himself will move you from place to place in safety, security, and preparation for a re-seizure of the kingdom. But it's in God's time and according to His plan. Be looking for movement both spiritually and physically in the days, months, years to come. God is positioning His chess board and preparing to checkmate the Absalom spirit which is the spirit of anti-Christ.
HOLD THE LINE and stand with the true King, just as Ittai the Gittite did.
2 Samuel 15:21-22 (NIV) 21 But Ittai replied to the king, "As surely as the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be." 22 David said to Ittai, "Go ahead, march on." So Ittai the Gittite marched on with all his men and the families that were with him.
You will see victory just as King David and his servants saw. Absalom will hang himself when his brief reign of terror comes to an end, and you will see the kingdom restored to it's rightful owner!
