09/27 Compass Guide Comments By Dr. Daniel Daves
27-Sep Isaiah 59-60, Rev. 21-22, Psalms 146-150, Proverbs 27
Proverbs 27:7 (GW) One who is full despises honey, but to one who is hungry, even bitter food tastes sweet.
I remember years ago, hearing a man named Mike Murdock speaking on TV, saying, "Go where you are celebrated, not where you are tolerated." Have you ever been in a place where you are being tolerated? Maybe your job, your school, your city? Some people flee their countries because they are hated (ie Nicaraguans and Venezuelans fleeing for their lives from oppressive government regimes). While your case might not be as extreme as theirs, you have probably experienced more "tolerance" than "celebration". But you don't have to put up with tolerance in your life.
Proverbs boldly declare that there are people who are so full that they would hate honey if you offered it to them. And there are people that are so full of themselves, their own way of believing, or whatever, that they wouldn't know a good thing if you handed it to them. Your gifts, talents, capacity to love and help others - these are put in you by God to do a great work in a community, among a group of people that you are called to. But sometimes our gifts don't match the people that we're around. If this doesn't change through prayer over time, you simply MUST consider a move to a new group of people. The "honey" that you have should never be despised by others. And when you get to the right location, others will gobble up your honey, gifts, talents, and the very "you" that God has made you to be. There are people somewhere in this world that desperately NEED you. They are actually calling out to God for you. You are their honey on bread that they are looking for. You will make a daily dry morsel come alive with sweetness. But God is not going to force you to go find these people. You must act by faith on the scripture that you've just read.
If you are being tolerated and not celebrated, it's time to start looking around for a people who need you. They're out there, guaranteed. And your pursuit is part of God's concealing of the matter inside of you, and you digging it out as a king. (Prov. 25:2) Kings will search out their domain so they can have dominion. Servants and slaves stay chained to the common area where they are only tolerated. You are a king. HAVE DOMINION! Go where you are celebrated, and where your honey can be appreciated by all.
