19-Sep Isaiah 43-44, Revelations 5-6, Psalms 106-110, Proverbs 19

Proverbs 19:6 (MSG)  Lots of people flock around a generous person; everyone's a friend to the philanthropist.

Many people have a great deficit in their lives with great need to be around people and gain acceptance and edification.  Self worth might be lacking and others can help lift a person up. Even the class clown, the party animal and the so called group leaders that seem to have it all together - many of these have huge deficits in life. We all to some degree have a problem with self image because of the fall of mankind and separation from our creator.  Of course, the Word of God and the Lordship of Jesus is the continued cure for anyone with a personal image problem.  But this comes over time, not immediately. Love continually has it's way in us and love never fails.

One thing that we must allow to permeate our lives is generosity.  Those who continually reach out to help others out of their misery or pain are operating in the spirit of love.  This is a gift from God.  And everyone wants to be a part of God's gift of giving to some degree. We all want to hang around givers.  As verse 6 says, people flock around generous people!  Why? Love is exemplified through generosity.

You and I must continually walk in generosity. Generosity is overflow. It's extra. It's the spirit of giving, loving, sharing and caring.  Generosity is the power of God and the love of God displayed on earth from Heaven.  Generosity IS the Kingdom of God.  Jesus prayed:

Matthew 6:10 (NIV)  your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Seek first the kingdom of God with the goal to be generous towards others.

Matthew 6:33 (CSBBible) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.

From this day forward, we accept the calling to be generous. We buy the coffee of a stranger. We mow the lawn of a neighbor in need. We give extra when tipping the waitress. We help a person in need to make their car payment. We extend extra mercy towards those who need it.  We help an international group to preach the gospel and stay on the field one more day.  We give out of our abundance and because we are generous, God supplies all of (these things) that we need. We have tapped an unlimited supply of resources from Heaven, and because we are generous, we always have plenty to give!  This is the life of kings in Christ!

2 Corinthians 9:10-15 (MSG) 10  This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, 11  wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God. 12  Carrying out this social relief work involves far more than helping meet the bare needs of poor Christians. It also produces abundant and bountiful thanksgivings to God. 13  This relief offering is a prod to live at your very best, showing your gratitude to God by being openly obedient to the plain meaning of the Message of Christ. You show your gratitude through your generous offerings to your needy brothers and sisters, and really toward everyone. 14  Meanwhile, moved by the extravagance of God in your lives, they'll respond by praying for you in passionate intercession for whatever you need. 15  Thank God for this gift, his gift. No language can praise it enough!

Generosity IS the kingdom of God manifest on earth.  And when you operate in this gift as a lifestyle, you will attract friends and followers who will glorify God in Heaven and who will intercede and pray for your needs whenever you have need.  This in itself will restore your soul and change your self image from sinner to giver, from mark misser to generous philanthropist.  From poor and stingy to an active son/daughter of God.
