14-Sep Isaiah 33-34, 1 Jn. 5, 2 Jn. 1, Psalms 81-85, Proverbs 14
Proverbs 14:4 (NIV) Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox comes an abundant harvest.
The Message Bible Says:
[i]Proverbs 14:4 (MSG) No cattle, no crops; a good harvest requires a strong ox for the plow.
Yesterday we discussed hard work and fulfillment of your hearts' desires rather than being a sluggard and fulfilling none of them. Today Proverbs tells us that we need oxen to bring in an abundant harvest.
I want to help you target your vision and dream today. Ultimately it's going to take alot of work and alot of people to build your dream. Going at it alone will be long, hard and tedious. Thankfully we don't live in the days of Noah where he only had family members to help him build that multi decade project called an ark. As a matter of fact, God has people around you and more to come in the future who will help you build "the dream". They are like oxen who will put in the hard work, sweat equity and power that you need to pull the plow and break up the ground so seed can be sown. They are your workers.
Don't get me wrong. You will need to work hard too. I'm not telling you to enlist your friends to build your dream with you. That will not end well. But as you work hard and bring direction, there will be oxen who come along and pull the plow. It's their purpose in life at this time. They are sent to help.
What part of your vision or dream needs to be developed at this time? Identify it. Then look around and start asking God who He will send to help you pull this plow and dig up the ground so you can sow successfully. It might be a project that is in front of you. It might be a business that needs to be built to help you establish a foot hold in an industry. Whatever it is, the oxen are available. But if they're not in your barn, your manger will remain empty.
Remember that when people give of themselves to you, whether they've been hired or are volunteering to build the dream, don't forget to feed them at the end of the row that they plow, because:
1 Timothy 5:18 (NIV) For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."
An abundant harvest awaits you! The key is in the oxen who have the power to pull that plow.
