NOTES:
11-Aug Job 27-28, Ephesians 5-6, Psalms 61-65, Proverbs 11

Job 28:20-28 (NIV) 20 "Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell? It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds of the air. Destruction and Death say, 'Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.' God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells, for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. When he established the force of the wind and measured out the waters, when he made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm, then he looked at wisdom and appraised it; he confirmed it and tested it. And he said to man, 'The fear of the Lord--that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.'"

Job has learned the most valuable lesson about wisdom. The kings of the Old Testament valued wisdom, and we would do well to learn as much about wisdom as possible. Therefore, we can find wisdom ourselves, and embrace her. Let's study briefly.

1. Job says that fearing and honoring the Lord IS wisdom. Honoring God in every aspect of our lives is the greatest way to set yourself up to receive wisdom.
2. Wisdom is considered a "SHE" and she comes with her sisters knowledge and understanding. They are the most valuable gifts that you could ever seek for, find, and honor in your life. Sister wisdom knows where the silver and gold are. She was with God in the beginning when He created everything. She knows the hidden ways, paths, and options.

Proverbs 3:13-18 (NIV) 13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.

3. Wisdom will bring you protection, and if you develop a covenantal relationship with her where you don't forsake her and love her, she will actually watch over you. And whatever it costs you to get wisdom, it's worth it. Even if it costs you everything, pay it to get wisdom, PERIOD!

Proverbs 4:5-9 (NIV) 5 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor."

4. We see that IN CHRIST is hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Therefore, transferring and exchanging your life for His life is the way to finding hidden wisdom.

Colossians 2:2-3 (NIV) 2 My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

We know that the Holy Spirit gives to some, as a spiritual gift - the word of wisdom. This literally means that a person can receive direction and information from wisdom to help lead his life, family, church, business, and nation.

1 Corinthians 12:7-8 (KJV) 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

You and I need wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. These sisters are looking for people of honor, obedience, sacrifice, and the fear of the Lord. They keep their ways and whereabouts hidden from the ungodly and the sinner. They don't appear to believers, until the character of Christ is revealed in that person's life. Fear, honor, respect, humility, sacrifice, willing to sell all and pay for wisdom if necessary. These are some of the virtues that wisdom is looking for before she pours her heart out to you. Develop a plan on how you can build these character traits into your life, family, business, job and relationships. Activate the plan and prepare your heart for wisdom to come and live with you.

This Proverb is most powerful concerning WISDOM. As you read it, notice how wisdom will guide and protect you, and once you qualify, wisdom will ENTER YOUR HEART and you will know the thoughts and knowledge of God! WOW - this is how close He wants to walk with you and I. It's like the return to the garden of Eden, as Adam walked with God in Spirit, closely, and in direct communion with his creator! Read and examine:

Proverbs 2:1-22 (NIV) 1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,
3 and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair--every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
13 who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways,

14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
16 It will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words,
17 who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.

18 For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.
20 Thus you will walk in the ways of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

Prepare your home and heart for the three sisters, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. They will come to you once they know that you're serious about inviting them to come live with you. Honor, respect, and give to them, and you will find the knowledge of God Himself!
