8-Dec Amos 5-6, 1 Cor. 9-10, Psalms 56-60, Proverbs 8

Amos 5:18-20 (NIV) 18 Woe to you who long for the day of the Lord! Why do you long for the day of the Lord? That day will be darkness, not light. 19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him. 20 Will not the day of the Lord be darkness, not light-- pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?

There is coming a great and terrible day when all things come to an end.  This will be the final culmination called the DAY OF THE LORD, where He comes and judges everything with fire. No flesh would survive this day, and everyone will be exposed for who they are.  There will be a great need of mercy on that day, and everyone great and small, believer and non believer will be crying out for that mercy.

We should never wish for the DAY OF THE LORD to come, whether it's upon the whole world, or upon individual lives.  The DAY OF THE LORD will do no one any future good, as it's the final end of the matter.  And to wish for this day is to kind of wish for retribution upon the heads of people that we don't agree with.  Rather than to wish for the judgment of God in punishing reality, maybe we should be praying for God to use us as instruments of change so that we can help as many people as possible before that great and terrible day comes where no natural man will survive.

There are also times in our own personal lives that are somewhat like the day of the Lord.  A day comes that totally changes our lives. Someone dies.  An accident changes the course of everything.  Some tragic event altars the course of our future.  What we have known comes to an end. We are suddenly bankrupt, given a tragic diagnosis, or lose a beloved job.  Many times these are turning points in our lives which are not fun to go through. They take faith, extra attention, and full energy to survive.  These events change everything about our future.  And many times, these events come as THE DAY OF THE LORD to bring a much needed change that we've been putting off, or to bring a correction that we have not heeded for a long time.

That food that you've been eating or the strong drink has finally broken your body and now the doctor says that you must stop eating or drinking the way you once did.  It's over.  the line is drawn in the sand and you are forced to CHANGE.

That lifestyle you were living has brought a strong slap in the face ramification upon you.  The pain is unbearable and you know that you must STOP.

The relationships that you've been in have turned on you and brought great pain to your own soul, and/or to the lives of many others.  You know that this is the end of these relationships and that you must now re-focus upon Godly relationships that will bring you into life, health, and fellowship with God.

You've been squandering your money on certain things that have been fun to the flesh, but you are suddenly broke and in need of that money.  You realize your error and must change your spending habits to build a different future, because the house of pain and lack that you're living in is killing you financially.

These are just a few of the DAYS OF THE LORD which come upon us during our lives.  I have experienced most of these in my life and have realized that PAIN comes to change our directions.  Pain in the body is a warning sign for us to take note and pay attention to the area where pain is coming from.  LACK is a warning sign to take note and focus. Why is there lack.  Whenever there is PAIN, LACK, CONFUSION, HURT FEELINGS, DIVISION, ANGER, or OUTSIDE ATTACK, these are a few of the warning signs that we must take note of because something is wrong in that area.

Why do we need to focus on what's wrong? Because God has called us to correct the wrong, to fix the broken, to create light in the midst of darkness, to ease the pain, and to change the path that's causing trouble.  We are to bring light, correction, and the Kingdom of God into the earth, to bring peace and all of the virtues of Heaven into a dark place.  God spoke to the darkness and destruction in Genesis 1, saying, "LET THERE BE LIGHT".  In the same way, we are to model after our Heavenly Father and call for light into every dark place, starting at home in our own lives, and moving outwards into the world that we live in.

Did you know that a type of GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD came to you when you became born again, accepting Jesus Christ into your life?  It was a day that was both great and terrible.  It was a terrible day for your old man, the old, dead sinning adamic nature that you used to walk in before you accepted Jesus.  This old man was going to die and would live no longer.  It was TERRIBLE!  But it was a GREAT DAY for your new man, the one created in Jesus Christ.  For this man, finally you would be filled with the light, life, and glory that you were created for.  Your disconnect would be reconnected to Heaven, and you would be reunited with your Heavenly Father.  What a GREAT DAY OF THE LORD!  One man died, and another man lives.  The old has passed away, and behold, all things have been made new!  What a great day for the kingdom side, and a terrible day for the dark side!

COMPASS GUIDE teaches that we have 8 territories to our lives which must be brought under the dominion of God.  Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Educational, Vocational, Social, Financial, Marital/Family.  These areas all need to experience the DAY OF THE LORD, and they need to be brought into a new reality of the Kingdom of God.  If any of these territories remain outside of God's Kingdom domain, then our whole man will suffer as rogue forces keep us from unifying the whole man under God's care.  We all have many opportunities in life to experience pain because of rogue, "old adam" elements of our lives which are not functioning according to God's plan.  But because we are kings and priests, sons and daughters of God, we have the capacity to speak, "LET THERE BE LIGHT" into those rogue elements, and to drag them under the dominion of Heaven, and under the dominion of the Word of God.  We have expressed authority in Christ to bring the whole man under God's kingdom domain.  This is the heritage of the sons of God.  In a way, you and I have the ability to bring the great and terrible day of the Lord into our rogue elements of life, and to drag them into the fire of God's Word.  And we have the authority to govern our 8 territories, just as a governor would govern the counties of his state (United States government).

Consider your 8 territories.  Are there any areas of pain within those territories? That pain is demanding your attention.  When you focus to the area of pain, do you see anything that's outside of God's dominion or any activity that's not in line with God's Word?  If so, then it's time to speak light into that situation, drag it into the fire of God's Word, and pronounce a change in that area of your life, in order to ease and disseminate the pain.  You will know that you are on the right(eous) path when the pain eases and healing comes to that territory of life.  And the more that you ease the pain, the more capacity you have as a unified son/daughter of God in His Kingdom.  You will experience more power, more miracles, more Kingdom well being, and the benefits of unity/peace.  You will walk in wholeness.  God does his part, and you do your part in governing your territories and HAVING DOMINION as God gave to Adam in the garden of God.
