11-Mar Numbers 27-28 1 Cor. 5-6 Psalms 46-50 Proverbs 11

Num 27:15-23 (NIV) 15 Moses said to the Lord, 16 "May the Lord, the God of the spirits of all mankind, appoint a man over this community 17 to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord's people will not be like sheep without a shepherd." 18 So the Lord said to Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand on him. 19 Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence. 20 Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him. 21 He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the Lord. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in." 22 Moses did as the Lord commanded him. He took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole assembly. 23 Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the Lord instructed through Moses.

Moses was concerned that the people would be without a shepherd as God was about to take him from the earth. So God commanded that Moses lay hands on Joshua in front of all the people, and to give authority and a charge to him. This was an important event, as the line of authority needs to be biblically passed and transferred. This new leader would take the next generation of Israelites into the land of promise, to deal with the giants, to conquer all squatting enemies of God, and to possess a land of their own. The leadership needs to be set correctly.

Also, a pattern is developing which shows that Moses, as good as he was, could not lead the people into the final land of promise and rest. This would need to be given to another, a second leader. Moses struck the rock twice in disobedience and disqualified himself to lead the people into the land of promise. But this new Joshua (which is the Hebrew name that Jesus was actually given) would successfully lead the Israelites into the land to fully conquer it. This is a type and shadow of Adam and Jesus, the two "adams" of the bible.

1 Cor 15:45-49 (KJV) 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

This type and shadow goes on to show us that while we are born once on the earth, this will not bring us into God's promises or rest. It's the second and last adam that we must follow, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will lead us into our final inheritance. And because of what Jesus has secured for us in Heaven and on earth, we can now bear the image of the heavenly one.

How do you bear the image of the heavenly? COMPASS GUIDE and walking out your core vision statement. Who does God say you are? If you will follow this and build after God's vision, you will bear the image of the heavenly one in front of all men. Unfortunately too many people don't ever figure out who they are in Christ, and they take God's vision into the grave with them, unfulfilled. But those who grasp hold of the heavenly image and bear it on the earth will honor God and will follow Joshua/Jesus into their land of promise, destroying giants, knocking down walled cities, and inheriting houses they didn't build and fields they didn't plant.

Today is our season to bear the image of the heavenly one on the earth, and to honor God by seizing the land of promise that He has prepared for us.        king  king  king
